10 Fastest WWE Title Changes In History

Posted on at

A real wrestling fan always dreams that his favourite wrestler will keep his title for a long time. But sometimes it does not happen as planned and he quickly lost his title to another wrestler. I am about to tell those incidents where a wrestler loses his title too quickly that it only shocked the world. So, let`s write the first blog here.

  • Dolph Ziggler

In 2011 on the 600th episode of WWE SmackDown, that time general manager of SmackDown Vickie Guerrero made his boyfriend Dolph Ziggler the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. People hated this incident because Edge was the previous Champion and Vickie not only fired him but also gifted the World Heavyweight Championship to Dolph Ziggler. Immediately after this segment, the real General Manager, Teddy Long entered and reinstated Edge and booked a match between Edge and Ziggler for World Heavyweight Championship. Within 90 minutes, Ziggler lost his newly gifted title to Edge. After the match, Teddy Long fired Ziggler from SmackDown. Ouch!!

  • Rey Mysterio

Cm Punk after defeating John Cena won the WWE Championship in 2011. Immediately, after winning the title, he left WWE. This caused so much trouble and resulted in a tournament to crown new WWE Champion. In the finals of the tournament, Rey Mysterio defeated The Miz to became new WWE Champion. On the same night, former Champion John Cena got an opportunity to regain his title back. In just 60 minutes after his title, Rey lost it to John Cena.

  • Randy Orton

Randy Orton who had won multiple championships, unfortunately, is also the part of this list. This incident happened in 2007 when Vince Mcmahon crowned Randy Orton as the new WWE Champion. A resemblance to Dolph Ziggler`s incident, Right? LOL. Anyways, Triple H confronted them and asked legit and logical questions like, How come, Randy, got a free WWE Championship without even competing for the title? This resulted in WWE Championship match between both of them. In just 20 minutes after getting a free WWE Championship, Randy lost it to Triple H.

  • Daniel Bryan

In 2013, Daniel Bryan finally became WWE Champion by defeating John Cena. People loved this match because their underdog guy had won WWE Championship but soon their dreams shattered as WWE screwed Daniel`s championship reign yet again. Triple H was the special guest referee for that match. After the match, Randy Orton, who was holding Money in the Bank briefcase tried to cash in. Triple H from behind screwed Daniel by delivering a pedigree which immediately gave an advantage to Randy Orton. Randy quickly came to the ring and pinned Bryan to became new WWE Champion. Daniel`s reign ended in 4 minutes. The match also formed a new stable between Randy Orton and Triple H, which was named "The Authority" in future.

  • John Cena

In 2010, Elimination Chamber, John Cena somehow managed to defeat 5 other wrestlers to become new WWE Champion. He was exhausted after competing inside the chamber. After the match, WWE Chairman Vince Mcmahon showed up and gave Batista a championship opportunity. During this time, Batista and Mcmahon heavily interacted with each other. So, you can say it was a gift from Mcmahon to Batista. Anyways, Batista beat exhausted John Cena and hence his reign ended within 3.30 minutes.

  • Jeff Hardy

In 2009, after a long rivalry, Jeff Hardy finally defeated Edge to win WWE World Heavyweight Championship. They both clashed in a ladder match so you can imagine how tough and dangerous that match could be. During that time, CM Punk was holding Money in the Bank briefcase. He cashed in his briefcase on Jeff Hardy to capture World Heavyweight Championship. Jeff Hardy`s reign ended in 3 minutes.

  • Yokozuna

In 1993, at WrestleMania IX, Yokozuna defeated Bret Hart with the help of his manager Mr.Fuji to win WWE Championship. Mr.Fuji thrown salt on Bret`s eyes which resulted in Yokozuna`s stealing victory. After the match, Hulk Hogan came to the ring to help Bret. This grabbed the attention of Mr.Fuji who quickly issued a challenge to Hulk Hogan to face Yokozuna at that very moment. Mr.Fuji was so desperate to crush Hogan that he put WWE Championship on the line. Without any second thoughts, Hogan entered the ring and defeated 500-pound Yokozuna to end his reign in 2.06 minutes.

Former Shield`s members Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns faced each other in 2016. After an epic challenging match, Seth defeated Reigns to became new WWE Champion. Seth`s celebration was squashed by Dean Ambrose who an hour ago had won Money in the Bank briefcase. You know rest of the story, Right? LOL. Yep, he cashed in his briefcase on Seth Rollins to became new WWE Champion. Seth`s reign was ended in 2 minutes.

  • The Big Show

In 2011, at TLC pay-per-view, Big Show defeated Mark Henry to became new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. After the match, Mark Henry assaulted Big Show by delivering DDT on chairs. After few seconds Daniel Bryan, who was Money in the Bank holder at that time cashed in on Big Show. He ended Big Show`s title reign in just 1.52 minutes by pinning him.

  • Andre The Giant

Andre The Giant is the only wrestler on this list who lost his title without getting pinned or submit by another wrestler. Strange, Right? In 1988, Andre defeated Hulk Hogan to win WWE Championship. This reign came to an end and it was actually shocking because Ted Dibiase who played the character of Millionaire, just traded WWE Championship with a wad of cash. Andre`s WWE Championship reign came to an end in just 1.48 minutes. Here`s a short video of that historic moment.
