"Pride and Prejudice", first published on January 28, 1813 as an anonymous work, is the most famous of Jane Austen's novels and one of the first romantic comedies in the history of the novel . His first sentence is also one of the most famous in English literature: "It is a world-renowned truth that a single man, who owns a great fortune, needs a wife."

It is a novel of personal development, in which the two main figures, Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy, each in their own way and, nevertheless, in a very similar way, must mature to overcome some crises and learn from their mistakes in order to face the future in common, overcoming Darcy's class pride and Elizabeth's prejudices towards him.

It is one of the best-known works of English literature, thanks to countless editions and some films such as Pride and Prejudice, 2005, a British film based on the Jane Austen homonymous novel published in 1813.
