A Little Big Step: Premiere and the secrets of postproduction

Posted on at

A Little Big Step, my fashion film created for Maá Shoes, is going to be premiered at La Jolla Fashion Film Festival 2014, which means, there´s just a few days left! ALBS will be premiered on Thursday at 20.00 local time. Can´t wait for it!

The last part of the film creation process, as usual, is the postproduction. I had a little but very skilled team:

Carlos Corresa did the color, Charli Soler the 3d special effects, my first assistant Nicolás Castelló handled the postproduction, Isabel Latorre (composer of Sinnside´s OST) did the music and Jorge Flor and Leticia Argudo (The Last Monkey) did the whole sound postproduction.

Given that shooting with kids it´s hard (but not impossible) I chose to create the whole sound design in postproduction, so I was able to talk to the kids during the shooting without disturbing the sound team. I did the same thing at the Sinnside shooting and the results were great, so for me this system worked (also because I had Jose Luis Canalejo doing the sound design at Sinnside, who is a really skilled professional).

Given that the brand behind the fashion film is Maá Shoes, we wanted to make the steps of the children sound like real Maá Shoes, so here you can see how Leticia and Jorge recorded part of the sound effects for the film. This is called foley recording (recreation of realistic sounds appearing in the film such as clothes, steps, etc).

Here´s a frame showing how Charli Soler did the visual effects for the film. Also here´s a frame without edition or color, before and after Carlos Corresa´s work. The clouds were digitally included by Charli as well.

As you see, a film takes a lot of work and effort from many different people in order to get a professional result! But it´s also a great experience being surrounded by so many great people who are able to make the ideas I write into live action images.

Thanks, team!
