Bangladesh have little to worry regarding CT qualifications

A part of Bangladesh cricketing fraternity seemed to be bumped up as soon as the news of the possibility of a tri-nation series between Pakistan, West Indies and Zimbabwe arrived.

But Bangladesh have little to worry regarding their qualifications for the ICC Champions Trophy despite a move for tri-nation tournament involving Pakistan Zimbabwe and West Indies, said the officials of the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Friday.

“I think there is a possibility of the tri-nation. But chances are very slim that we will lose the opportunity of playing the Champions Trophy. After a careful thought we came to conclusion that it will be difficult for both the sides to catch us even if they play the tri-nation,” said Nizamuddin.

“Moreover if we do well against South Africa, the tournament will be irrelevant,” he added.

According to reports, if the series takes place then Pakistan might squeeze themselves at No 8 while the West Indies can lift themselves to No 7, pushing Bangladesh back to No 9.

Bangladesh, however, can still spill water on the hastily planned tri-series as only one win in the three-match ODI series against South Africa will be enough for the Tigers to qualify for the Champions Trop
