BLOG #172: Fishing for my phone

Posted on at

I never thought that I would be fishing out my phone from the river.

Yesterday, I went for a bit of a hike to get to the waterfalls in Camp 6, Tuba, Benguet.  I was actually rushing for I have to get to my aunt's house later on.  Going to the falls was just a side trip.

I started my hike with my camera on hand.  I did not secure my phone.  I just placed it on the outside pocket of my bag which has no zipper.

I had to scale some big rocks, skip, jump and climb some, keeping my balance on others.  It was in one of my jumps that I had to bend over to keep myself from falling and/or slipping that I felt my phone slid from my bag's pocket.

My feeling of fear of loss and regret and guilt were instantaneous and it came once I realized what is happening.  My heart sank when I felt my phone fall and heard the splash it made.  Such times make you realize that material things aren't worth saving for.  Better let the phone fall in the river rather than you and the phone get wet.

Until now, my phone turns on but all I get is black screen.

Lesson learned:  Secure your phones, gadgets, wallets, etc and keep them from getting wet or falling whenever you are near body of water.
