Champions League is finally on the last stage of its 2013/2014 season show, this has become the real stage for the Champions to show the strength and many have tried their utmost to do well but only two have reached the final stage where another one will knocked out by the real Champion of Champions. Biggest clubs were trying their muscular powers to catch the most famous and most rewarding trophy in European football the clubs included the likes of Barcelona, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and other biggest clubs in Europe. This year the battle have been fierce between teams as lower teams were as well motivated to progress as much they can and that was why the big teams like Manchester United, Barcelona, Chelsea etc were held or even defeated at the hands of much lower stature teams. The promise that Champions League makes for providing the best of entertainment in the world be proved every season.
The season started with the forerunners in the betting market was Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City. The biggest hope being put on Bayern Munich to redo the great achievement of Champions League last season with the purchase of huge stars like Mario Gotze and the addition of former Barcelona great Pep Guardiola as Manager of the team. Under Jupp Heynckes Bayern Munich did the incredible by winning all the trophies that season that included dismantling of BVB in the domestic league and winning the season with high difference and also by defeating Barcelona so heavily that everyone couldn’t believe what was happening with Barca. Finally winning much coveted trophy after defeating Dortmund in the final of Champions League Season 2012/2013. However, this season was the season of adaptation under Pep Guardiola and the shaky results proved the fact.
This time Bayern Munich were put up against Real Madrid the repetition of the season 2011/2012 and Bayern were placed as favorites to progress (slight favorites). However, as I already said in blogs at the start of season that Real Madrid are chasing La Decima this season and this might be the year when Real Madrid will truly realize the dream of 10th UEFA Champions League trophy, Real Madrid defeated Bayern Munich handsomely and brought back the memory what Bayern Munich did last year. After winning the first leg of the Semi Final of Champions League at home with 1 goal, Real Madrid scored four goals in Munich and humiliated Bayern. On the other hand Atletico was up against Chelsea with Chelsea labeled as the favorites to go through, under the supervision of Jose Mourinho Chelsea should have won the match easily but Atletico Madrid did superb job by drawing the match at Stanford Bridge after when Chelsea drawn the match in the first leg in Madrid. Both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are now in the final and though Real Madrid are the most favorite to win the match but Atletico will not give up easily. Thus a great ending match of the season awaits all football fans and alike.
