David Christian Films - The films that meant the most

Blood Shot 3D

Blood Shot was my fist short film. I discovered on my own how to make 3D movies, and showed my good friend Andrew Neis, who agreed to work with me on a big project. We filmed with two cameras taped to each-other. There were multiple fight scenes that Andrew and I needed to work out, and I wrote my first script. I played the main character, a man whose ability to feel anything is taken away from him, making him the perfect fighter. The action scenes turned out amazing, but the acting scenes were weak, and will one day be refilmed. One problem was that they were overlong, due to my lack of previous writing. My insistence to have every scene is 3D was unnecessary, and the new acting scenes will be without 3D. Post production was the hardest part of the movie, as the cameras were constantly different, which meant that when the images were laid upon eachother they often needed to be resized. There was constant camera shake due to the bad rigging (duct tape) and I would for some scenes need to go frame by frame to readjust positioning. The entire process took one year, and it failed to enter any film festivals. It will be resent after the new acting scenes are completed.

Depth

Depth is a very short 3 minute film, which explores the fear of pregnancy and abortion. It does not judge one way or the other, but deals with the psychological aspect. In the film, a hitman is hired to take out a man's unborn child, but leave the wife alive. My actor was obtained the day before shooting, and he had never acted in his life. He was the best I had ever worked with. Along with his natural talent, my directing skills allowed him to search inside himself and examine his fears. Yusuf Onder delivered and myself delivered an amazing performance. My DOP was horrible, and I had to constantly correct him, but the shots were simple enough that he was able to pull it off. They hold strong, and the acting and story make the film.

Who Knows?

Who Knows? is based on a conversation about God my girlfriend an I had. Andrew Neis and I played two robbers who had just robbed a church. This was an idea taken from my former screenplay Burn It Down. While evading the police in an alley, the two robbers have a conversation about God and punishment, and relive their dark pasts. This film tends to make people morose, not because of any of the content, but because of the overall feel. I have been told that the environment is a strong character in the film. The most often reaction to seeing this film seems to be a minute of contemplative silence.

Each of these films means something important to me, and I feel they form a good foundation as i mover towards a feature film.
