There come to some points in our life when we guys feel useless. The point when all the hopes get out of our mind. The point when all our confidence reduced to zero. The point when life has no more symphony and excitement. This is a very alarming point and we must pay heed to it.

This situation is faced by many people but they wouldn’t be able to get what it is. This is called depression. In this article, you would be able to read all about depression.

Being sad time to time is a common thing. But being sad, miserable and down for more than 2 weeks is alarming. This stage is called depression. Let’s see what depression basically is:

What is depression?

"Depression is a state of low mood and aversion to activity that can affect a person's thoughts, behavior, feelings, and sense of well-being. A depressed mood is a normal temporary reaction to life events such as loss of a loved one. It is also a symptom of some physical diseases and a side effect of some drugs and medical treatments. Depressed mood is also a symptom of some mood disorders such as major depressive disorder or dysthymia."

Depression is a mood disorder that causes sadness persistently. It’s a common and debilitating mood disorder. When hopelessness and sadness take hold and just don’t go away, it is pointing towards depression. It drastically affects your life, it completely changes the way you think, works and feel. All the functions you perform on daily basis become tough. You wouldn’t be able to enjoy life once you did. It can interfere with your ability to eat, sleep, work, enjoy and study. Everything gets destroyed. This feeling of hopelessness and worthlessness can be intense and can wreck you. Your interest in all activities reduces day by day and become zero due to depression.

It is necessary to remember that we all experience these types of circumstances time to time but, it does not necessarily mean we are depressed. Depression has some basic symptoms. Let’s take a look at its symptoms.

>>Feeling sad and depressed

A person having depression will always feel sad and hopeless. He thinks that nothing will ever get better. All hopes of brightness and success never come to his mind.

>>Lake of interest in daily activities

You don’t care about daily activities. All the hobbies you once love to do became meaningless for you. Going out, having hangouts with friends, enjoying you don’t like to do all these things.

>>Lake of concentration

If you are going through depression then you will never be able to concentrate on your work. You will start forgetting things and would not be able to give your best.

>>Sleeping problem

A person with depression will have an abrupt change in sleeping hours. He might never be able to sleep well or either start sleeping for long hours. Sound sleep will get away from a depressed person.

>>Anger

A depressed person will never behave normal, he/she always remain violent and short tempered. They start getting angry at very small mistakes. They shout at others because of short temperament.

These are some symptoms I have mentioned here but besides that, a number of more symptoms also point towards depression. You can study them via the internet. I am now going to put light on the solutions of depression. How to get rid of depression? I have a solution and its right below.

Solutions for depression

The solution to depression is not limited; you can go for medical treatments or fight with it by yourself. Everything is up to you. If we go for experts then we have three options:

1. Medication

2. Psychotherapy

3. Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT)

On the other hand, if we want an easy solution to this problem by fighting with our defects it’s much easy. You can follow the steps given below.

 

>> Reach out family and friends

Sitting alone at home fills your minds with useless ideas. While going out and reaching friends and family gives you golden time. You listen to them and get to know about their life. It brings positive energy and makes you feel that everyone has problems in their life. Your friends listen to your problems and give solutions. In this way, your mind starts thinking positively and the doors of hopes start opening for you. It’s a very good remedy to get out of depression because family is an asset that nothing can replace.

 

>>Add motivational things in life

We use to hear the negative people more attentively than the positive ones. We pay attention to that one negative comment rather than looking at ten comments that are appreciating us. If we start ignoring negative thoughts and people we can live better. Depression is cured by watching motivational videos and photos. Make your habit to see motivational things rather than ones which cause hopelessness. Listen to the interviews of most successful persons, so that you would be able to know they also have suffered in their lives.

 

>>Take responsibilities

When you are depressed, you may want to pull back from life and give up your responsibilities at home and at work. Never get lazy and forget your responsibilities. Staying involved and performing your daily responsibilities help you corp depression. Start keeping you busy in different activities so that, no irritating thoughts will disturb you. Just keep yourself focused on the result.

 

>>Fight with negative thoughts

One the most important thing to fight with depression is by eliminating negativity from your mind. Changing how you think will help you get out of depression. But, if you remain with the same negative and hopeless mentality, you would not be able to fight depression. Start changing your angle of thinking. If no one like you doesn’t worry you are enough for yourself. If someone cheats you, take it easy, take it as a lesson and never repeat the same mistake again.

 

>>Set goals and routine

Depression makes you feel that you are not able to do anything. It makes you feel that you wouldn’t be able to achieve anything but you can prove it wrong. Fighting with depression is possible only when you set goals and trust on your abilities. Set small portions of goals for you daily and put all your efforts in fulfilling that. At the end of the day, see the results. It will help build your confidence. In this way, depression gets away and you start loving yourself again.
