FO2 - Forstal's Final Rest is a free role playing game supplement published by Adventures in Filbar. The adventure is the second in the FO series and is aimed at the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons and AD&D 2nd Edition systems. The players have been asked to investigate the tomb of Forstal, a hero who died protecting a town from a humanoid incursion, as the residents believe that problems may be stirring again.

This is an eleven page PDF which lacks bookmarks. One page is the cover featuring the Adventures in Filbar logo, one page has a map of the caverns, which would appear to be a scanned copy of a hand-drawn map and one page has two stock photos that are intended to illustrate two areas of the caves.

Around one and two thirds pages are Player's and DM's Background, giving the background to the previous incursion and the current threat, which is Bullywugs and Troglodytes, the latter being the original humanoid threat and the former being recent arrivals who have been enslaved by the Troglodytes.

The remainder of the supplement describes the aboveground area of the tomb and the caves themselves, eleven encounters in all. Each area has a description for the players followed by notes for the DM, and any monsters or treasure that can be discovered.

FO2 - Forstal's Final Rest in Review

The PDF lacks bookmarks which aren't essential for one of this length although they would have been nice. The text maintains a single column format and only a few minor errors were noticed. The illustrations are fairly standard cave images and are adequate for their purpose and the map is a decent-enough hand drawn one that shows the various areas.

The adventure itself is a reasonably straightforward cave adventure; gain access to the caves, defeat the occupants and prevent them from escaping. There are enough monsters in the caves to make it challenging, especially if they aren't defeated piecemeal.

The adventure may be aimed at AD&D but it should be easy enough to convert to any Old School Revival system and a bit harder to update it for modern games such as Pathfinder. Given that the adventure is almost entirely set underground, the links to the Filbar setting are quite minor and it can easily be dropped into a suitable location in another setting.

FO2 - Forstal's Final Rest is a decent, short adventure that is easy enough to use, and it's free, so click here to get it.
