Gelato and Ice Cream : Same-Same or Different

Posted on at

Nowadays, summer is doing its "Job" very well, it has been so much warmness around the globe and the temperature in most parts of India has crossed 113°F too. That's why the Government has proposed "Orange Ban" to those areas, in which the Government will make sure that nobody gets out without any protection after noon. Unfortunately I am also in such kind of place which has been encountered by that Orange Ban. But we should have to chill out in this summer; after all we're a part of that era which is entering to high season for frozen treats. We have many cold desserts which don’t only help us to survive in this summer but also they give us a different kind of deliciousness. Truthfully, we eat most of these no matter what name they go by, but is there really a difference between Ice-Cream and Gelato? Or Gelato is just a fancier name given to regular Ice-cream?

It had been three weeks since Micky-the-Slanted-Salerno came with an announcement that Bitlanders will offer us double rewards for writing about Gelato and the based survey chats. I have already checked some blogs from several users and finally I am here to write my own. Yeah, I know that I have been so late but still I have enough time to write it and submit to get an entry for Double Rewards program. So, if I take you back to Micky's blog, he mentioned:

All blogs about Gelato that are submitted for review will receive double rewards. Tell us what you prefer (gelato or ice cream), your preferred brands, how much of a sweet tooth you have, etc.

So here I will talk about my experience with Gelato and also with Ice creams, I will also add my opinions to Bit-miles Survey Chat about Gelato. Overall it would be a tasty journey from top to the end of this blog. Let's start this...

 Gelato vs Ice Cream

We all eat Gelato and Ice Cream, it's common, and if you're not likely to others then you've to go through a physician for your checkup... LOL. Well, I guess you're not that kind of patient. So you eat Gelato or Ice Creams but after all these you don't have any specific knowledge to differentiate both from each other. Now here I'm putting some points about that:-

I don't remember the time when I took Gelato first time but in recent it was the last week when I had Gelato from 'Amore Gelato' and then it was yesterday when I ate Gelato at a shop named "Gelato Vinto" which was having several kinds of delicious flavors. Firstly, it was much like an Ice Cream parlor and because of unawareness of Gelato among people, they were asking for one scoop of Ice Cream. But when I asked about the shop name, the seller introduced me with the 'Gelato' word. He also added that temperature is a big factor if you're differentiating between Ice Cream and Gelato; while Ice Cream is typically served frozen, Gelato is usually stored and served at a slightly warmer temperature, so its texture stays silkier and softer. Gelato melts comparatively slowly than Ice Creams.

Ice Cream and Gelato both are the sweetened frozen foods typically eaten as snack or dessert but there are some dissimilarities between them. The first difference comes as the name, while Ice Cream is a composition of two English words, Gelato is an Italian word given to Ice Cream. Or Gelato is referred as the Ice Creams made in Italian style. Both Ice Cream and Gelato starts out with the similar custard base but Gelato contains higher proportion of milk and lower proportion of creams and eggs than the Ice Creams. Sometimes Gelato uses no eggs at all.

Ice Creams are churned fast, to make it fluffier. While Gelatos are churned at much slower rate which introduces less air and this makes it denser. It also uses less saturated fat than Ice Cream so you may also go with Gelato as a health-freak. So now I think you got that Gelato is not just another name of Ice Cream. Well, these were the points figured out by me using the information from the internet and some of that given by the seller of 'Gelato Vinto'.

Now it's time to clear out the differences between these two cold treats with the help of a video...

Now I'd like to share my experience with the Bit-miles survey chat about Gelato -

Bit-miles Survey Chat : Talk about Gelato

Before talking about any other thing, I'd like to draw your attention towards the Bit-miles Survey Chat. Yeah, I have spelled it correctly. It's Bit-miles Survey Chat which differs from Bitlanders Survey Chat in some points. In these days if you're unable to catch any of those three well-known surveyors at your Bitlanders page. You may earn through participating to Bit-miles surveys. All you have to do is to login at your Bit-miles account, then you'll able to see different tasks and surveys to participate. And if you're looking for Gelato survey, then find something like this:

In this section you will get various kinds of questions about Gelato and you will also encountered by the information added after the questions. One thing you should have to remember while taking surveys and that is to be honest with yourself. If you are replying to any survey, don't show yourself as someone else or what you're not. Because each question there is based on your last preference and if you chose the wrong one, the next questions might be unsolved for you.

When you're entered to that specific titled survey, you'll see something like this on your screen...

With each preference you provide to the survey you'll get a new question in front of you. You'll be rewarded as well for each answer you made so don't think that it is waste of time. In this survey, you will not only get several questions but also they (Bit-miles survey team) provide the best information about Gelato. Here is the sample:

 My Preference:

I always thought I was an Ice Cream guy, until I got encountered by a new taste. And after knowing the facts I'm so proud that I prefer Gelato over Ice Creams. I love Gelato, but I get ticked when people say it's "ice cream" because it's not the same thing. I've described above that how I can say this. Both have their places in my heart, but Gelato tends to have more sophisticated flavors that I adore; for instance tiramisu, pistachio, chocolate, yogurt, hazelnut, salted caramel and my favorite Belgian Chocolate. The flavors go so well and seem much richer. According to the information given at Survey, Gelato has almost the half of calories you get from Ice Cream. It is usually gluten-free while Ice Cream is not, and it also comes with a bunch of protein, vitamin B, calcium and phosphorus; so it is healthier than Ice Cream too.

Gelato Brands:

Till I've come to know what is Gelato, I got two brands in which one is my favorite brand "Amore" and other one I got from Bitmiles Survey Chat— "Amorino". These both names relate to each other in view of spellings and yes in the view of what they sell, but Amore is an Indian franchise and runs only in India while Amorino is a Global brand with a huge presence in U.S.A, some of Europe and in few territories of Asia including U.A.E. Unfortunately, Amorino is not placed at India yet but we have our own brand named Amore. As it is my favorite Gelato brand but instead of this, I have my own Gelato flavor and that is Belgian-Chocolate.

Amore has its 40 outlets in 11 cities of India (Mumbai, Hyderabad, Surat, Ahmedabad, Pune, Nasik, Baroda, Nagpur, Goa, Siliguri, Ludhiana & Lucknow). I find myself lucky that it is available in my city too, which is Lucknow. Amore is still looking to expand their presence by double in next few years. I hope they'd get success into it. Now I request you guys if you visit India, please have a taste of Amore Gelato for the once at least. Otherwise if you're in the place where the Amorino is presented, then you must try for once. Now if you like to take a visit at their websites:

1) http://amoregelato.com                  2) http://amorino.com

That's it. Happy Summers & Thank you for stopping by...
