Get Ready for "Rocky" the Musical!

When Rocky looks for Adrian at the end of the first "Rocky," expect more gut-wrenching "Adriannnnnnnnnnn" in the broadway adaptation of the Oscar-winning film. Presented by Stage Entertainment USA and Sylvester Stallone, the show will begin performances on Broadway at the Winter Garden Theater in February of 2014 according to THR.

The stage version's book is written by the Tony-winning Thomas Meehan ("The Producers," "Hairspray") and the music is composed by Stephen Flaherty and lyricist Lynn Ahrens. The director is Alex Timbers with fight choreography by Steven Hoggett ("Once") and dance choreography by Kelly Devine ("Rock of Ages").

Here's what Stallone said about the Broadway production of his original story/screenplay, “I couldn’t be more proud or more excited about this production and how my original story of Rocky Balboa has been brought to spectacular life onstage." Stallone further said, “The story of Rocky was very much like my life at the time – starting out with nothing, having to fight for roles and recognition...So I put those feelings into the body of a boxer and I had no idea there were so many millions of people that felt the same way. Alex Timbers and the entire creative team have not only honored that original impulse, but have made his story as exciting, heart-breaking, and inspiring as it was when Rocky first went the distance onscreen."

So what's next? "Rocky 2," the musical? Or maybe a song-tastic "Rambo!"
