Health is Freedom

First of all I would like to talk about KIDNEYS. They are a pair of organs located in the back of the abdomen. Each kidney is about 4 or 5 inches long -- about the size of a fist. Its function is to filter the blood.
All the blood in our bodies passes through the kidneys several times a day. The kidneys REMOVES WASTE in a form of urine, CONTROLS the BODY'S FLUID BALANCE, and REGULATES ELECTROLYTE BALANCE.

Maybe some of you are wondering why did I talk about kidneys first (or maybe I'm just assuming. ha-ha!). Actually I'm a nurse, specifically a hemodialysis nurse in which we care for patients with KIDNEY FAILURE. Well, from the term itself, it means their kidneys are not functioning or inadequately functioning and because of that they cannot excrete waste products, excess fluid and excess electrolytes in the blood. That is why we always encourage our patients to limit their fluid intake to less than 1 liter, a lesser salt intake, including processed food and fruits that are high in potassium and many more to mention. In other words, they DON'T HAVE THE FREEDOM TO EAT WHAT THEY WANT (well freedom is a choice) but if they don't follow this treatment regimen, it will lead to death. Its like signing their own death wish.

To all the people who are reading this. Just a friendly advice, drink lots and lots of water while you still can at least 2 liters per day and avoid soft drinks as much as possible. Eat healthy and avoid processed food and fast food. Honestly, there still so much to say, but in short JUST STAY HEALTHY. God bless
