Housing Crisis in Afghanistan

Posted on at

Afghanistan has been in conflict for the last 4 decades which resulted in the people fleeing their houses and have to take refuge in neighbouring Pakistan and Iran. The poor economic state of people have made them to live in rented properties and by fleeing due to the conflict has made them in  a position where they have to come back and start from the scratch.

The property boom in Afghanistan has made the poor,s life miserable as lands and properties are at the will of the most wealthy and influental people and as a result they have to look for  shelter. There is an economic crisis in Afghanistan where poor are getting poorer and rich gets wealthier. The monopoly of the some of the influental people and the corrupt government has made their lives miserable.

Afghanistan is not a safe place to live in except some of the places and people are fleeing conflicts in diferent parts of Afghanistan. The nearest camp in Kabul is the Helmand camp where people came from Helmand due to insecurity and fighting in the region. The kabul winters are at its peak these days and they are living in make shift tents. There are small children, women and elders who can,t cope the harsh weather conditions.Government is not doing enough to help our poor country people.Every year scores of children die due to the cold weather condition and there is no facilities to keep their selves warm.

Most of the people used to be farmers or having their own small buisnesses .Jobs are hard to find and if any then the pay you get is so less that they can even feed their small families.Inflation is at its peak and affording a family is very hard.Small children are working in the brick factories to help their families and education level is almost nil.

Government should find them a proper housing system and help them provide with jobs to maintain their families. They should be provided proper medical facilities and creates awareness among them to start sending their children to schools. With the funding that are being invested by Nato and its Allies should be invested properly and help poor,s  of the  Helmand camp.
