Cricket Career of Imran Nazeer

 

Imran Nazeer starts his test career on March, 1999 in Lahore Pakistan during Asian Cricket Championship. His first match was against Srilanka. He got much popularity by making 64 runs in his very first international match. He played total 8 test matches with 13 innings and made 427 runs with the average of 32.84 from the period of 1999 to 2002.

He starts his ODI (One day international) career at Visaakapatnam in India. After that his luck was not with him as he was unable to take his place in one day international matches because of some other opening players like Muhammad Hafeez, Imran Farhat, Salman Butt, Yasir Hameed, and Toufeeq umar kept him out. However his overall performance was excellent in local and domestic type of cricket matches.

He has played his second single day international match in February, 2007 against the team South Africa when Pakistan visits to their country for cricket series. He made a good come back and impressed the team supervision with his massive performance. He struggled very hard and made 57 runs in just 39 balls. His performance in this series was generally excellent.

As a result of his excellent performance in previous series, he was selected in the team for 2007 world cup series. However, over all performance of the team was not so good and Pakistani team was beaten by the Ireland team but, the performance of Imran Nazeer was too good as he made160 runs. In 2007 cricket world cup, it was the last match of Pakistan against Zimbabwe.

It was the 8th highest runs scored by any player in the history of cricket world cup and the second highest runs scored by any Pakistani batsman. In Domestic and 1st class cricket matches, it was also the most runs he scored. Australian cricketer Ricky Ponting has a record of 8 sixes in cricket world cup and Imran Nazeer equals this record also. And now he is the regular part of Pakistan’s Twenty20 cricket squad.

After a year in 2008 he signed a league called ICL (Indian Cricket League) and played for the team Lahore Badsha. The captain of the team was Inzamam-Ul-Haq and coach was Moin Khan. Over all team performance was very good and Imran Nazeer also rocks in this league. Lahore Badsha won all the matches but lost in the finals. It was the first term of ICL. After that in second season of ICL, Lahore Badsha also won all the matches including finals. The performance of Imran Nazeer was excellent in the best of three final matches. He has scored 111 runs not out in just 44 balls in the third and final match against Hyderabad Heroes and this helps his team to won the series.

After agreement with the ICL league, he was ban for playing in Pakistani cricket team. But in February, 2009 Pakistani high court cancelled the ban on players of ICL (Indian Cricket League) players. After being cleared from high court he has the way for playing in Pakistan cricket team tour to Srilanka for ODI matches and Twenty20 matches in august, 2009.

After that he was selected in the squad during Pakistan’s tour to Dubai for two Twenty20 matches against New Zealand. Pakistan was the victor of this series by 2.0. He was also selected in Pakistan vs Australia Twenty20 match but his performance in this match was not satisfactory. He was again selected in February, 2010 against England for two Twenty20 matches but he still played very bad and was unable to satisfy his team selectors, in this way he was dismissed from the team for the next series. After this he played only two national Twenty20 championship. In 2010, Imran Nazeer was selected in super sixes tournament held in Hong Kong. Overall performance of the Pakistani team was very good and Imran Nazeer also performs very well. Pakistani team reaches in the final match but unfortunately they have lost the final. However Pakistan was in winning position but in last over opposite team requires 46 runs in just 8 balls and Imran Nazeer was bowling. He gave away huge 48 runs in just 7 balls and Pakistan lost the final. Imran Nazeer was not a professional bowler that’s why he could not perform well as a bowler, and as a result Pakistan has lost this final match.

He also played in Bangladesh’ National Twenty20 league for the team Dhaka Dynamites and his performance was too good. He also played BPL (Bangladesh Premier League) series and represents Dhaka Gladiators team. His performance was superb in this series and he gains much popularity in Bangladesh also. He played total 7 matches in this series and scored 207 runs with an average of 41.4 runs per match. In this series he hits twenty one 4s and nine sixes. His strike rate was 150 which is awesome. His highest score in this series was 58 and he also made two fifties.

After his superb performance in BPL (Bangladesh Premier League) he was again selected in Pakistani cricket team for Pakistan vs Australia Twenty20 matches scheduled in September, 2012 and also for the upcoming Twenty-20 world cup which was scheduled in Srilanka. In Twenty-20 world cup he played sensible cricket and made 153 runs in 6 matches. His runs average was 25.50 and strike rate was 150 which is awesome. In this series he also performs massive 72 runs against Bangladesh. These runs helped his team to won the match. He has played his last international match in October, 2012 and is still not playing any international match. He is now playing in some foreign county cricket matches and some local competitions.

He started his first Test match against Srilanka on 04 March, 1999 in the ground of Gaddafi stadium Lahore, Pakistan. His last test match was against Australia, which was played in Sharjah cricket stadium Dubai on 11 October, 2002. He played his opening ODI (One day international) match against Srilanka on 03 October, 2009 at Visakhapatnam stadium in India. His last ODI match was against the team New Zealand at wonderers stadium played on 03 October, 2009. He played his opening Twenty20 match against the team South Africa on 2 february, 2007 at Wanderers stadium and the last Twenty20 match was against Srilanka held at R.Premadasa stadium on 04 October, 2012.

In test matches he made 131 runs against West Indies at Bridgetown, kensington Oval stadium on 11 May, 2000 and 127 runs against the team New Zealand in Pakistan in the ground of Gaddafi stadium Lahore on 18 May, 2002.

In ODI (One day international) matches he made unbeatable 105 runs against Zimbabwe, played in West Indies and another massive 160 runs against the same team also played in the same country West Indies on 21 March, 2007.
