Is Prednisone really works?

Posted on at

Prednisone is corticosteroid. It is used as anti-inflammatory medication. It treats different conditions such as asthma, allergic disorders, arthritis and so many more.

But taking Pred really works? I, personally, took this medicine in 60mg for my asthma last year. Yes, it can prevent the release of substance that can cause inflammation. It really works for me because my breathing is back to normal. However taking this drug can also weaken the immune system; we can easily get an infection. Whoever takes this drug please stay healthy. Stay away from crowded places.

Prednisone's side effects that personally I've experienced are the following;

      1. Palpitation
      2. Headache
      3. Bloating
     4. Stomach pain
     5. Increased appetite that can cause weight gain
     6. Fainting
     7. Body Pain

Other generalized symptoms that may occur with Prednisone usage.

  1. Increased hair growth
  2. slow healing of bruises and lacerations
  3. extreme fatigue
  4. muscle weakness
  5. insomnia- the inability to fall asleep or stay asleep
  6. seizures and convulsions
  7. change in vision, blurred vision, or loss of vision
  8. Depression or confusion
  9. irregular heartbeat or shortness of breath
  10. difficulty swallowing
  11. peripheral neuropathy (tingling in the hands, feet, or face)
  12. rash and/or hives

If so happen your Doctor prescribed this medicine, discuss the side effects and how to handle it before taking it.
