Anthony Vennitti (NYAC) fought up 2 weight classes for better
competition and took 2nd place in a very tough 90kg division. He
normally fights 73kg. Over 225 competitors from all over the east
coast competed in a very good regional championship.
Wojciech Szulinsk (NYAC) also competed and placed 1st in his under
black belt division.

At the Venezuela World Cup event, held June 19 and 20 in
Caracas, Venezuela, the following AC players won medals:

Beijing Olympian Travis Stevens won his second medal on the World Tour this year on Sunday with a second place finish in the 81kg division at the Lisbon World Cup in Lisbon, Portugal last weekend. Should improve his current World ranking of 19 (top 22 men qualify for the Olympics) On his way to El Salvador World Cup and then to Russia to compete in the Moscow Grand Slam.

Nineteen-year-old Kayla Harrison made her third World Cup medal this year - a gold one - when she won the 78kg division at the Sao Paulo World Cup in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Saturday. She also took 1st at the Venezuela World Cup event, held June 19th and 20th in Caracas, Venezuela. This should greatly improve her current World ranking of 15 (top 14 women qualify for the Olympics).


Two days after her sixteenth birthday, Katelyn Bouyssou (Hope, R.I. / NYAC / Mayo Quanchi Judo Club) won her first senior European medal at the Tre-Torri International, a USA Judo Senior B-Level Point Tournament, held in Porto Sant’Elpidio, Italy on June 13 and 14. Due to High School demands she does not have the same opportunity to travel and compete as our other athletes.
