NYC Fashion week close by and Fashion Shows to EXPRESS OPINION on BIG SOCIETY TOPICS..

Posted on at

This week we had one of our fabric supplier from Biella, Italy, Top Wool , visiting to meet with designers and show their preview  for SS'14 line . All these summery and nice colored fabrics with light weights , drapey hands, natural compositions that I saw all days made me wish it was warm again already, made me dreams about dressing comfort and light on the beach, while this was a crazy cold week  in NYC!...

The response to big constructions in cotton and nice wool/linen blends was very good, especially from high end customers like : Polo Ralph Lauren ( Blue Label) , Brooks Brothers , Alexander Wang  , Phillip Lim and Club Monaco. Each of these Brands will be visiting of course the big Textile show in Paris soon, Premiere Vision , starting on February 12th. We will meet with them again there, but it is very helpful  to give them a taste of the new lines in advance. Here in Nyc the Fashion week will start February 7th,  so I will be in France for the fabric show, and I will need to read many Fashion Magazines this time  to keep up with the news here...I will miss all the shows this time ! So much fun to go and then read the comments of the Fashion  editors after....

Yesterday infact,  I was reading about KARL LAGERFELD and his always interesting Show.

Nowdays FASHION and SOCIETY are always more and more connected. Fashion Shows are finally used also to express OPINIONS  to the PUBLIC, as before was done mainly  through ART . I like how even this FASHION channel is open  now, TO EXPRESS FREE IDEAS ..

Karl wanted to express his opinion about GAY MARRIAGE and he sent a couple of women dressed like brides with a child at the end of the show , commenting : "Pourquoi les gens qui vivent ensemble ne peuvent pas avoir la même sécurité que les bourgeois mariés ?", a poursuivi Karl Lagerfeld qui s'est dit en revanche "moins enthousiaste" à l'égard des pères qui "commandent des enfants à une dame"...

Here in NYC , during FASHION WEEK,  there might be other  big topics to express, for sure not all the designers are so free and strong like him, but here this specific issue has been approved already!! NYC goes always faster....

Have a good weekend everybody ~
