Police to patrol Dhaka streets with camera for New Year celebrations

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Benazir Ahmed told a press conference on Tuesday that they would use cameras to keep vigil on the New Year’s eve to keep order.

There would be check posts in the capital’s important thoroughfares in addition to police patrol, he said.

File Photo “No one will be able to enter Hatirjheel area after 8pm that day. No outsider will be allowed in Gulshan, Baridhara, Banani and Dhaka University areas after midnight.”

He said the commercial bars would have to down ther shutter at 6pm.

Among others, Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman and traffic police’s Joint Commissioner Mili Biswas were present at the briefing held at the police’s media centre.
