The first movie of The Hunger Games trilogy, created by director Gary Ross was essentially an amusement, giving a fashion to films about youth' reality shows. The show, whose actors must stay alive. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire directed by Francis Lawrence continued our loved drama of survival adventure, but this time he is a bit turning us to a rising rebellion against the future totalitarian state. The second film corrected some of the first movie's mistakes and continued to successfully combine a youth adventure movie, melodramatic intrigue for adolescents, and socio-political morality. Before the third sequel - THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY – Part 1 - unintentionally question arose. Can the authors of the third part not scatter the intrigue, dynamics of the whole movie series?

Moreover, Harry Potter has established a not so good fashion to break the decisive final movie into two parts. I think they have done it for very simple commercial reasons. It's understandable that producers want to earn revenue twice instead of once.

And so, Francis Lawrence, the director of the second Hunger Games part, did not disappoint his fans and continued creation of the final film by adolescent literature. He presented the first part of the final books' screening. Let's go into a new adventure!

The Short Story Of The Movie

In the third series, there is even more rebellion. At the epicenter of the film again appears Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) who the second time survived Hunger Games but still doesn't feel safe. The home, former 12th District, was destroyed, her relatives became refugees, and the revenge-seeking Capitol wants to trample the girl who is considered to be a Mockingjay responsible for the turmoil in the country.

Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) also causes her anxiety as he became the hostage of the Capitol after the tragic end of the 74th Hunger Games. The fate of tortured boyfriend is unclear.

Quiet and forgotten for many years Thirteenth District which once initiated an uprising against the Capitol, now seeing Panem's turmoil, determines to go out into the light of the day. People, albeit poorly living, stand proudly raised their heads and speak loudly and despicable about President Snow. It's bastion of rebels, the existence of which most people around the country do not even know.

The District, ruled by the president Coin (Julianne Moore), took Katniss and other rebels into its own territory. People begin a Panem war and throw a challenge to its government.

Katniss finds it difficult to reconcile with the burden that came to her - to be a symbol of the liberation of the nation as a Mockingjay.  Her only desire is to protect her loved ones and not to participate in politics or rebellion. But with the unexpected help from the immediate environment of President Snow, the girl is eventually forced to accept her destiny. Katniss perceives compelled to fight even more vigorously than in the Hunger Games.

But will not become such a task and the hopes of the whole country to win the war an excessive burden for the young girl's shoulders? If you want to know that, watch the movie

The Content Of The Movie

One of the biggest problems with the new Hunger Games was the division of the book into two parts. If Harry Potter and his magical and unexpected world, having split up, still was a very high-quality product, the Hunger Games, whose main accent is action and atrocities, lost their charm due to the storyline that was too prolonged and monotonously presented.

However, it looks that for filmmakers, it was not so easy to create two parts with the same dynamism. It brought all the minuses that the loyal fans of the series deserved to complain. The first part of the finale has a lack of ambition and action as it purposely prepared us for the second part of the finale. It's a movie like a novel's prologue.

The new film by the director of Francis Lawrence begins very boring, looks prolonged and without any intrigue. Too many dialogues, I would even say, have too many meaningless dialogues that have made this film a Mexican series of melodrama. And then it turns to the politics film

Yes, everything is the same as in the book, but if you move each word of the character to the screen, you can extend the movie up to ten hours. Also, each action of the third band, which lacks not only interesting collisions with the enemies but also the war, which is so pictorially described in the book. Understandably, filmmakers have all this left for the final movie, but it was possible to really shorten chats and add at least some more exciting fights scenes.

It's easy to understand the disappointment of the youth, as the first part of the 3rd series of the Hunger Games goes away from the formula of survival of reality. Instead of easy-to-understand entertainment, it's more for parents than for children is given a clear political action adventure movie. Action and effects here in the second plan. First, there is a clear moral about power and opposition, for both of which the image of leaders is equally important. Cinema is not everything. The image is everything.

Regarding the structure of the action, which the film does not really portray from the good side, one scene can be mentioned. It compensates the boredom of two and a half hours. This is an impeccable singing scene, looking at which you feel the shiver under the skin. This episode is presented so epically that it alone compensates the stress due to the monotony of the film.

It is also possible to mention the rather good scene in which the capital's forces attack the city and Katniss fight with them. Later, the film shows minimal, vivid episodes of insurrection that take only a few minutes. There were no more pluses from the script presented.

Characters in this movie also do not show themselves how it would be desirable. Understandably, developers have already revealed all their psychological portraits in the previous sections, but it was still possible to present something more spectacular or enticing.

New actors, like President Coin or Boggs, are completely cold, with no revealing inner qualities. Although these are some of the more important actors in the third book to movie adaptation, their presentation is very cold and just disappointing as if they were second-passers in the movie. It is to be expected that at least last movie will show them in all beauty.

Peeta and Katniss this time appeared in the movie without expected charisma. Maybe developers don't care anymore about the movie after they got a big success of the first parts, so they were so sluggishly introducing the main heroes of the cinema?

So the new film is primarily about the media war during a real war. All that we see today in real life. The winner will be not who first shows misinformation but who will present it in a more convincing and appealing way to the masses.

If you do not want to get disappointed, I advise everyone to watch this movie as an introduction to the final. Then everything stays in place. And without a prologue, it will not be interesting to watch the final. francis_lawrence

The Technical Side Of The Movie

The third part's special effects outstrip what we have seen in the first parts of the film. Indeed, a very high-quality background, a beautiful color palette that symbolizes the dawn of revolution, darkness, and hope. The environment, spacecraft, and a special post-apocalyptic theme's atmosphere are also thoroughly depicted.

It's a shame that, unlike the first two films, there was no place for costume designers. Most residents of District 13 wear gray overalls and formless robes, and Mockingjay puts on her famous brooch only once. Generally gray - the main colors of this picture. If the authors wanted to emphasize the unbearable length of the film in this way - they succeeded.

The soundtrack in this film is also able to overtake its predecessors, but it's not a surprise because it was created by James Newton Howard, nominated for the six Oscars.  A very strong musical escort, well-matched music with an image and, more importantly, the movie has a unique scene in which Jennifer Lawrence sings the beautiful song "The Hanging Tree". It is this scene that can be considered the most epic in the entire film. For me, Lorde with her "Yellow Flicker Beat" song sounded weaker than Jennifer's song.

I loved the work of the camera too. This is probably the strongest component of this film, which plays the most important role in action scenes. The actions, explosions, attacks of the enemies are depicted in all kinds of positions. Indeed, technically, the film can compete with the world's most expensive blockbusters by its quality.

OK, if to praise everything, then up to the end. The film montage does not cause discomfort, even though the film itself is long and boring. Really, in the middle of the movie, I wanted it to end as soon as possible because there are more important things. Sound amplification has also been well done, especially in a few battalion scenes that have been able to liven up a stagnant routine for at least a few minutes.

The Collective Work Of Actors

Actors who liked the audience in the previous series, are scrupulously arranged in this film too.

The performers of almost all heroes who really have the actors' ability, did not demonstrate any outstanding talent in this film. Understandably, the movie does not pretend into the highest cinema awards, but by gathering such a team, they could really squeeze something more.

Main hero - Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence, I think, perfectly fit into the image of Fire Kindness, I basically like this actress. The first two series I gladly watched for her. But the entire third movie, Katniss, just walks with her open mouth, depicting surprise, indignation, shock, grief, and other relevant feelings, but always looks in the same way.

Jennifer Lawrence looks like she's not on her plate at this time. It was seen that she was in a hurry to finish all the films shots so that she could be more likely to find other projects. The pace at which the young Hollywood actress now lives not well reflects in her role. Too much cinema projects that prevent it from concentrating on a single character and giving it a deeper look, to give it more time.

You will be able to admire Jennifer in a baggy gray suit or in a not less baggy hospital robe. Crying! The same emotion - a face that had been frozen in the form of a mask with a lonely tear, she had already demonstrated in the first parts of the film.

Other Actors

Liam Hemsworth, or just a young Chris's brother, who finds it hard to get out of the brother's shadow, gets more screen time in this movie. It's obvious that a guy can perform his role well. He really coped well with his character, which in the next part will become even more important.

Josh Hutcherson, who plays Peeta, appeared in the film for just five minutes. But that short time was able to irritate me because he did not show any performance at all. Just like a vegetable tree is built in the scene.

Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Jeffrey Wright, Mahershala Ali, Sam Claflin appeared episodically in the film, but their performances are fairly average.

I can praise the Phillip Seymour Hoffman, whose performance in this movie was the last in his career. Really well-embodied character. The same thing can be said about Julianne Moore's performance. Although President Coin's character was not fully revealed, the actress got enough time to prove that even in such films her talent is able to cope with all challenges.

On The Final Note

This series of Hunger Games is fundamentally different from the first one - no bright costumes and crazy lush wigs, and another chic; no training of tributaries ready to kill each other to survive; no arena and adventure. This series is already akin to the reality of our lives, it is about the beginning of the war. About the death of people, about politics.

THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY – Part 1 is a penultimate film of the adorable teen series with a protracted action and pretty boring content, but it manages to squeeze the beautiful visual side, excellent operator performance, flawless sound and just fifteen minutes of action.

Anyway. In the background of the latest similar movies (Divergent, The Maze Runner, The Sender), the Hunger Games series continues to remain the leader of its genre. Even if the latest part only builds the bridge entering into the final movie. We certainly see gigantic images at the final.  And the brutality that everyone lacks in this film

And, of course, the final dot in the relationship between Jennifer Lawrence and her two guys: Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth. Producers no less than the viewers are wanting the final to satisfy everyone and be enchanting. But about the final in my next blog, so welcome back to read.

I don’t want to promote violence, and part of the themes of these movies is that you have to be careful going into conflict… even if revolution is needed, you have to be very careful because there will be loss and there will be consequence, - Francis Lawrence
