The Hurt Has Taught You Its Lesson

I heard a quote from Comedienne Sheryl Underwood that blessed me so. She shared an experience she had and she said the result was that she was "bruised but not broken". As I listened tears rolled down my face, and as a sense of relief came over me. As a survivor of sexual abuse and now using this experience as a platform to help others, I realized that I too have been "bruised but not broken". We all have had experiences that we thought we could not make it through and when we do we wonder how. We are surprised to see that as painful, stressful, or overwhelming as the experience may have been, we made it. We went through it with more strength than we thought and a determination we believed to be non-existent. The challenges in our lives are designed to build up or remove something about us that hinders us from being who we are created to be.

Taking the hurt and even the truth of a painful experience and using it to push, encourage and empower you is how you make what could have broken you, become your greatest motivation. They say that "time is the healer of all wounds", and over time we do recover, however, we should not waste time being angry, bitter, or vengeful. We should use the "time of healing" to examine who we really are and walk in that truth. Greatness is housed on the inside of all us! It is easy to say who you are but it takes courage to be who you are. Don't allow your bruise to turn into a sore. Let the love of yourself, strength, and faith be the salve for your bruise. Healing will come. So today declare to yourself and to someone else that you may be "bruised but you are not broken".

If you are hurting about something that someone has said or done to you and you are able to talk about it that's GOOD NEWS! This means that the hurt has NOT OVERTAKEN you, and that you are GOING THROUGH IT. Keep moving! Keep Moving! The hurt has taught you its lesson and you are going to be stronger because of it. Your coming out will help someone else KEEP MOVING and GO THROUGH!

We go through, we get hurt, we want to stay angry but when we decide to let the hurt make us better and not bitter, we find ourselves still standing!
