We booked this hotel with a groupon voucher which cost £99 for two nights with Breakfast which I think is a lot cheaper than the hotel actually charges as standard.
Check in was quick and efficient and our room was ready even though we were early.
The room was very nice a descent size with a HUGE bed bigger than a king size.
The Bed was nice and comfy as well.
The Bathroom was a bit small but well equipped and had free toiletries.
The Restaurant was quite pricey but you could book a special deal which was three courses for £20 each which for a hotel is pretty reasonable. The food was good nothing spectacular though.
The Breakfast was buffet style with hot and cold options which were plentiful and really tasty.
The bar as expected was a bit pricey around £5 for a glass of wine £4 for beer.
The location is great you can walk along the canal into the city center which is a nice walk, or if you walk away from the center along the canal its even nicer really pretty and you also come to some nice pubs ( A harvester and one called the Cheshire cat).
Overall we had a really enjoyable stay at the Mercure and would not hesitate to return.
