ToI Kolkata editor dies

After a nine-month battle with cancer, leading Indian newspaper The Times of Inida’s Kolkata edition editor Sumit Sen breathed his last in Kolkata on Sunday night. He was 60.

Sumit Sen was busy working on a story about the mysterious departure of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, at his workstation just an hour before he died.
Chief minister Mamata Banerjee offered her condolences and rushed to the hospital to pay her last homage.
“I have lost one of my favourite journalists. His demise at the peak of his career is a great loss for us,” said Mamata Banerjee.
Sumit Sen started his career as a crime reporter at English daily The Statesman. He worked at The Hindustan Times as well.
He joined The Times of India in 2003. His expertise was in writing analytical pieces on left politics of West Bengal and India-Bangladesh relations.
His wife Malabika Sen is a noted Bharatnatyam dancer.
