I had the great pleasure of attending the English language premiere of the documentary movie "Vann "Piano Man" Walls: The Spirit of R&B" yesterday at Toronto's NXNE Music Festival. Directed by Steven Morris, over a period of 23 years, it's about Vann Walls, a rhythm and blues pioneering pianist with an incredible playing style. A highly entertaining and moving portrait of this almost forgotten musical legend, the film includes interviews with Ry Cooder, Dr. John, Gerry Wexler, Ruth Brown and Ahmed Ertegun. It explores Vann Walls incredible life. Check it out!
