White Buffalo Birth & Death Portends...

Posted on at

Tatanka Ska is Sioux term for the white buffalo that portends a special event, perhaps a cosmic opportunity according to Native Americans. The event is apparently extremely rare, perhaps 1 in 10,000,000, but in last month or so one has been born in Texas and more recently this little one pictured (above) in Connecticut.

Hate Crime

The white buffalo in Texas days after a Native American naming ceremony “Lightning Medicine Cloud” (Below) was found “slaughtered” by unnamed perpetrators, and soon thereafter its mother was found killed. Some see this as a hate crime and an investigation is underway. Perhaps that is the message: a century after the almost eradication of the American bison in the wild and what many see as the parallel genocide directed at Native Americans, the “land of the brave” where the “buffalo roam” is reverting to the language of hate. See Film for Blog Report– “Legacy of Exploitation, Subjugation & Domination”   The momentous birth of the Tatanka Ska may be an unpleasant reminder to some as to who can more justly lay claim as the original or “true Americans.” See our Blog for film Report: “Native American Rights-US Tardy?”. Perhaps the killing of "Lightning Medicine Cloud" and its mother "Buffalo Woman" portends the crude exploitation of our mother earth till she no longer is able to give life?

We await for the native Americans to conduct the naming ceremony for the white bison in Connecticut – and perhaps the future it portends for all.
