Wow! Google Makes Delivery Services Use Drones

CALIFORNIA - Google has recently reveal their latest project, product delivery services are backed by unmanned aircraft or drones. Google's project is called Project initiation Wing.

Reported by ArsTechnica, Friday (29/08/2014), the project was undertaken by a team of Google X which also makes cars that can run automatically and Google Glass. Wings project whose development started in 2011 is enabling the company to deliver the package the goods using the drones at a certain height.

In a video, Google shows the prototype drone dropping packets at a height of tens of meters. Package goods this fall will not hit the ground hard, but Google makes certain techniques so that goods remain safe.

Robotics scientist from MIT, Nick Roy joined the Google X team for two years. He contributed to the design of a hybrid, which is a combination of fixed-wing and helicopter elements.

Thus, the unmanned aircraft can take off vertically and has a configuration with the tail. This service is also expected to provide faster delivery time than the Pony Express for a company like FedEx.

"We are starting to see the same service, completely changed the world," said Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google. He hoped that this shipment can be done quickly with time approximately one or two minutes.

Not just Google, Amazon retail stores the company late last year unveiled plans to provide similar services. However, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rejected the proposal submitted Amazon as the delivery mechanism utilizing drones for shipping directly to consumers.
