Ava DuVernay’s “Selma” was the opening night film of the Palm Springs International Film Festival. And it’s quite fitting that the movie about our hero, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (brilliantly played by David Oyelowo), is opening a festival that is known to celebrate artistic freedom.
