Too Far Gone Location Scout

I've always wanted to make a zombie style drama set in a post apocalyptic back drop as I think it is an unusual situation that can cater for plenty of great character moments. It asks the question, what becomes of society when there is nothing left?

If I was to make something like this I'd want it to focus primarily on the characters and the struggle they go through adjusting to this new lifestyle. I think the introduction of zombies shouldn't be too in your face. I think to create the presence of a undead corpse lingering in the background through the use of a clever sound design would be more effective.

One of the most important elements in consturcting a believable film out of this concept would be the location so I've been on the hunt for the ideal setting. I keep picturing a bleak dried up stretch of land with an old cottage or something around those lines. This is when I had the thought of my other house located near Hawkstone Park.

It's an old cottage that covers 10 acres of land and is recently being done up and refurbished. I went there the other day to check it out and also the surrounding area.

The most perfect thing about it is there is no fight to gain permission to film there as my family already own the land. I love the look of it and there are plenty of choices of places to film aorund the area. Since we live there shelter can be provided if worse comes to worse and also food and drink can be made in the kitchen. There is electricity for charging batteries, etc.

Upon visiting it has inspired me for lots more scenes within my film an has given me a better idea visually of how this film could pan out.
