Born in 1941, Anglo/Dutch guitarist, musicologist and composer Francis Kuipers “Superguitar” has been resident in Italy since the 1960’s and has lived long periods in Holland, Britain, Spain, New Zealand, India, The Philippines, The Seychelles and the United States.

He has produced numerous series of radio broadcasts on music for the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation and for the Italian RAI networks. For a number of years he performed with Beat Generation poet Gregory Corso and was guest star on the 1989 summer tour of Italy and Switzerland by Francesco De Gregori. From 1992-96 he directed the Music & Sound Department at Fabrica, the school of Multimedia Communications founded by Luciano Benetton and Oliviero Toscani near Treviso. Benetton international radio spots, created by him won the European Grand Prix for best radio publicity 1995- 96.

Movie credits include Anima Mundi, 1991, winner of numerous prizes, and Naqoyqatsi, 2002, directed by Godfrey Reggio with music by Philip Glass. In 2005 he composed the score for Mary, directed by Abel Ferrara, winner of the Grand Prize of the Jury at the Venice Filmfestival. In 2007 he composed the score for Go Go Tales directed by Abel Ferrara, presented at the film festival of Cannes. In 2009 he composed the score for Napoli, Napoli, Napoli, docudrama directed by Abel Ferrara, presented at the Venice Filmfestival.
