31 Days of Breast Cancer Discovery: Day 25 - Surgical Recovery Part 1

Posted on at

In honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, we will be posting daily informative videos presented association with Beth Israel Medical Center and Dr. Susan K. Boolbol for our series "31 Days of Breast Cancer Discovery". Each day, Dr. Boolbol, who is the Chief of Breast Cancer Surgery at the medical center, will talk about breast cancer and share tips on to how to reduce the risk and what steps should be taken if you are diagnosed with it.

On Day 25, Dr. Susan K. Boolbol discusses surgical recovery. Recovering from a lumpectomy is straight forward because it is an operation on the breast, not muscle which would cause more pain. A Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy make cause some pain because it is an incision under the arm due to the location of the incision. However, this is still an operation on the breast, not muscle. For this reason, most women will recover within a few days.
