4th day of 2nd test match between Pakistan and New Zealand

Posted on at

I think this day has gone to Pakistan. And I think this was their comeback day in this test match. At the end of 3rd day, Pakistan was 125 runs behind New Zealand score. Only the one batsman and other were the tail enders for batting. Sarfraz Ahmed and Yasir Shah were at the crease in a surviving battle. This match was going to draw.  In the start of the 4th day, with the addition of 10 runs Pakistan loses their two wickets. Now New Zealand was on top due to the brilliant bowling of Tim Southee. Now Zulfiqar Babar and Sarfraz Ahmed were at the crease. They add 25 to 30 runs for the partnership of 9th wicket but Babar gives his wicket and go back to the pavilion. Now the last man Rahat Ali comes to the crease to bat with Sarfraz Ahmed. Pakistan was still 90 to 100 runs behind New Zealand. Both these players keep their nerves calm and play the careful cricket. They were looking good at the crease.  Then Sarfraz Ahmed took the charge and starts dealing with boundaries.  He quickly gets his hundred and became the first Pakistani wicketkeeper to score three hundreds in a calendar year. He also comes to the list of all international wicket keepers who scored three centuries in a calendar year.  Pakistan innings comes to end quickly after lunch. New Zealand gets the short lead of 10 runs.

Now the only chance for the survival of this test match was that Pakistan gets some quick wickets and come back in this match. In the start New Zealand openers were looking full of confidence. They play really good cricket in first half hour. But opener Latham loses his wicket when he tries to sweep. Asad Shafiq took the very good. Latham reviewed this decision but this decision remains same. The ball kissed his gloves very lightly and this was out. Williamson comes at number three but he also gives his wicket away. New Zealand loses their first four wickets at the score 79 runs but Pakistan fails to create more pressure due to the brilliant batting of Rose Taylor. At the end New Zealand score was 167 runs and their 6 players were out. If Pakistan wants to win this match, they will have to bowl out New Zealand quickly in first 10 over’s of the day. Otherwise it will be difficult to chase the big target at this wicket. This day totally goes to Pakistan. They made a beautiful come back in this match. My best wished are with Pakistan for the 5th and final day of the test match. If Pakistan will win this test match they will also won the series. They will get the lead off 2-0 in three match test series.
