5 Good Ways to Slash Your Stroke Risk

The benefits of eating a balanced diet, working out and reduce bad health habits such as smoking and so well known that it is not considered "newsworthy". But the new research, published in the journal "Neurology" strongly positive highlights the extent of these interventions can be when it comes to preventing the fourth leading cause of death among adults in the United States: Stroke.

The study, conducted by researchers from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, found that women who adopted five behaviors simple lifestyle Lagging 54 percent in the risk they have to suffer from any type of stroke, decreased 64 percent in the risk for cerebral infarction type of stroke -a stroke caused by blockage of the blood vessels of the brain. Body building better: body mass index (BMI) less than 25 is the goal.
"Because the consequences of stroke are usually devastating and irreversible, primary prevention is of great importance," the study's authors Susanna Larsson statements, Ph.D., a researcher at the Karolinska Institute, whose research and previous studies have found that chocolate moderate coffee consumption can also reduce the risk of stroke.
