Turmeric, this wonderful spice must be one of the most beneficial health supplement known to man. This common herb can be called the "Queen of the spices" as well as being called the "Golden spice". It contains many healthy nutrients and can be used to treat a wide variety of health problems.

But what is turmeric? In my previous post, I gave a brief description of what turmeric is, the many ways it can be used as well as a brief summary of its possible health benefits and side effects.

Here is a brief excerpt from my previous post about what turmeric is.

Turmeric, the Curcuma longa, and is also known as the Indian saffron or the golden spice, is a subterranean plant with creeping rhizomes or root stalks and is a perennial flowering plant from the same botanical family of ginger. It is a plant that is native to Asia and Central America.

Turmeric is a spice that has been used by our ancestors in cooking and medicine for more than 4000 years. It has been found to be used as far back as the Vedic culture in India. In some texts found by researchers, turmeric has been used by ancient people as medicine for digestive disorders due to eating spoiled food, liver problems, and as skin tonics.

Turmeric is a common herb that has been used since ancient times in cooking, as well as in medicines. Although curcumin cannot be absorbed very well by the bloodstream, consuming it along with black pepper helps in its absorption. It is a health-promoting powerhouse that is not only used in cooking but it is also a wonderful medicine for various health problems.

It can be said that turmeric is the golden spice for all of its benefits.
