Friendship is a boon, a divine gift. A true and genuine friend is one who helps is needed. Adversity tries a true friend. He is blessed who has at least one sincere friend. In these days, when the world is too much with everybody, real friendship is a rare thing. A true friend is more precious than any other relative. Friendship is one of the noblest expressions of human relations and instincts. which is why it is said "prosperity makes friends but adversity tries them." Friendship is also said to be the wine and essence of life.
Sincerity and loyalty are the foundations on which friendship is built: without this foundation friendship is a mere pretension, a hollow and useless relationship. False friends are really more dangerous than a real enemy. Sincere and true friendship is not common these days. People pretend to be friends just to serve their own selfish ends and when there is any adversity or misfortune they disappear very quickly. That is why Shakespeare has said, "Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly. "Most of our friends are fair weather friends. They are there with us during prosperity, happiness and cheerful circumstances. They would never stand by us in trying and difficult situations. They would desert us when we need them most. Really all not friends that speak us well and fair and share our prosperity.Such people are really thieves and cheats who rob us of our precious time and money. Examples are galore of betrayal in friendship. There are also examples of great sacrifices in friendship but they are few and far between.
