I have to make it.

I have to.

These are the words that I have been telling to myself for a month now. This month seems to be the busiest for me in terms of work. From the annual budget to the evaluation, to supplemental budget. There are just too many on my hand. Thinking how will I get things done in just a month seems to be hard if I just keep thinking that it is hard. Yes, I have to remind myself that, I CAN, I REALLY CAN. There is no one that can help me get through this, but only myself. And I am glad that I am seeing the end of the tunnel.

Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment."--Jim Rohn

Setting a goal.

Anyone can make their own goals in life, some are successful in reaching it, some have failed. Those that have failed might have missed some key points in setting their goals.

Things will be really out of my hand if I don't set a goal, plan ahead and schedule things. Setting a goal wasn't my cup of tea before, and it didn't turned great. As years gone by, I have learned to set goals and used the acronym SMART, that we have learned in college.

Whenever you wanted to achieve something, keep your eyes open, concentrate and make sure you exactly what it is you want. No one can hit their target with their eyes closed."--Paulo Coehlo

What does SMART stands for?

The acronym SMART stands for Specific, Measurable,Attainable, Realistic and Time bounded. It is one effective way for me to reach my goal when it comes to work, haven't done it yet with my personal life, but some told me it is effective.

Specific. It means that I have a clear plan or idea on what I have to achieve. Questions like, what do I wanted to accomplish and the reasons why do I have to accomplish it.

Last week, my goal was to have myself and paper works be ready for the evaluation and it turned out to be good for I am still waiting for the result, but I know I gave my best for it. And this week, my goal is to finish the supplemental budget, but before I have to get it done, I have to transmit vouchers. Two things in a week.

Goals give us direction. They put a powerful force into play on a universal, concious, and subconcious level. Goals give our life direction."--Melody Beattie

Measurable. This is a part where I have to ask myself, is it obtainable? Can I get them really done?

With the start of the week, I have already all of my vouchers arranged and made transmittal letter afterwards. Then I have to recheck the missing signatures, or documents that will support those vouchers. This is quite tricky if I haven't put my vouchers in every folders, glad that I have been organizing my stuff.

But then, some of my colleagues asked me if I can help them with their annual budget, I just helped two this time. I have learned to turned down, for I have been taken for granted by their own selfishness, too much of my kindness. I have a goal to reach. To have everything be submitted on or before Friday.

Focus on you goals, not your fear. Focus like a laser beam on your goals."--Roy T. Bennet

Attainable. We can not just set a goal that we know from the start that it sounds impossible to reach. Since I have to think that two things can not be done in just a couple of days, I set it for a week, five working days. For if I set it for a shortert time, it may cause frustrations on my part and my self confidence might be lost along the way.

I have to do my own "self-assement". Does the work easy for me, or hard for me? I know what i am capable of. Knowing your own capability is a great help in thinking if if you can do this much or not.

A goal is not always meant something to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at."--Bruce Lee

Realistic. What do I have? What do I need?  This is the reason why I didn't made my goal be reached in just a day or two, I know somethings or supporting documents might be missing or lacking some signatures. I have to give an allowance to look for those. It is not me being not that much organized, but some receipts might have some missing dates or have the wrong computations. Every details are important, like with the number of Purchase orders and requests.

I have to not just get things done as fast as I can, but to have it done properly before I messed up.

Aim higher in case you fall short."--Suzanne Collins

Time-bounded. Do I really have that much time? How much time do I still have? One of the things I have learned to deal with is to live with time, and with time that I have, I can not afford to waste it. It is better for me to have more time left that I fall short with the time I have. It be be chaos and the goal might not be reached.

When I commit myself with the deadline that I made for getting things done, it made me stayed focus and at the same time challenged. That focus have made me stay away from those "extra work" that I should be getting and for the frist time, I have learned to turned down from those people who kept asking for favors. A time-restrained goal is intended  to established a sense of urgency.

What the mind conceive, believe, and the heart desire, you can achieve."--Norman Vincent Peale

Isn't it great to have your goal reached? It is. It boosts more of yoru confidence, it can make you beleive more with youselrf and what your capability it. Just stay focus and have that discipline.
