Afghan Woman Bring Change

Posted on at

We all know how fast this world is changing. Women rights and situations are part of this change. In the past, women were supposed to be silent, quiet and obedient, and belong to domestic sphere. However, sometimes things change and keep changing. Now, women act more independently, and confidently.

Afghanistan and Afghan women are parts of this change. A great example of an independent and confident Afghan woman is Roya Mahboob who was named in TIME Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the world in 2013 for her work in building internet classrooms in high schools in Afghanistan.  Roya Mahboob made her way to this great success through Afghan society where the environment is not very encouraging for women to be leaders. "You have to show everybody that men and women are equal. Women can do something if you allow them. Give them opportunity and they can prove themselves" she said. Mahboob has proven despite several hardships, there is always a way to bring a change.

Mahboob and Film annex work on building internet class rooms for Afghan schools. Film annex http://www0.filmannex.com  is a Web TV Network that allows filmmakers to create free Web TVs to present their work under specific domain names. In Afghanistan where access to technology is very limited, Internet is a great resource for Afghan children to connect to the world and expand their information. Moreover, it helps Afghan children to be more involved in social media, and can be in touch with people all across the world.

The first step is the most difficult one, as much as you insist on keep moving, there is always a way to change and to bring a change.
