BLOG: A REALLY Short Rant on "Don't Buy a Steam Machine" video

Posted on at

So one youtuber I watch has been reviewing Steam Machines. For those of you who don't know, Steam Machines are pre-built form factor gaming PC's that run Steam OS (or are windows optimized for steam), and designed to sit under your TV like a console. They are for people who are console gamers that don't want to build a "gaming rig." Well, according to this youtuber, every Steam Machine sucks and is worse than consoles, so he gave us a video that shows how to build a good steam machine for under the TV.

...Well then I'll just buy a console if the pre-builts are worse than the consoles. Honestly, I don't think PC fanboys realize how much console gamers DON'T want to build a PC and ACTIVELY avoid building hardware and troubleshooting. I've heard PC fanboys say "oh building a PC is just like putting a SNES game in a SNES." NO! NO IT IS NOT! A SNES doesn't fry when you put the power supply in the wrong area, or put something in backwards. A SNES doesn't require you to load the operating system on it or search the web for the right drivers to make the game run. You don't have to worry about buying the right processor to make your games run on a SNES. And you know what, neither do modern consoles. The PS4 power supply is already installed and all you need to do is connect the keyed power cable so you physically CAN'T put it in backwards. You don't have to search for drivers since they automatically update. Since EVERY XBOX ONE has the same architecture and hardware, EVERY game runs exactly the same. Pre-builts are slightly appealing because it removes the hassle of finding drivers, putting hardware together, and everything else associated with building PCs, but if they are worse than the 8th gen consoles, we'll just go with the consoles because there's no work involved.

Well, this has been Pokematic, signing off, and bu-bye.
