The title of the book that I am going to describe is “Bhin groher bhoyankar” written by Anis Das Opu released in 2007. This is a science fiction story where we can see the efforts of an alien to survive and return to it’s home planet. This story also describes the intelligence and bravery of a hero Dr. Stanton, who is a scientist in the story.
Story starts with the description of a alien. It came from outer galaxy and doesn’t have any eye or ear but can sense everything from a little insect to even big trees within 20 feet. At first it starts scanning everything but soon it realizes that the earth has gravity more than it’s own planet. It has a super natural power of controlling any living being by making them host only when they are sleeping and can only leave the host after host’s dead or by forcing the host to kill himself. Soon it sees Tommy and Charlet, who were visiting the jungle, and followed them with a rat host. At a point the alien got its desired chance and took over Tommy when he was sleeping. It had to face little difficulty that it never faced before because the being that is more intelligent is harder to control. After getting control it entered into Tommy’s memory and got brief information about earth. It understood that human is going to be his worst enemy.
With the help of Tommy’s knowledge it found a hiding place for its body because if anyone destroys its body then it will die but host’s life doesn’t matter to him. Tommy was not a good host for it as he had no knowledge about electronics. This alien was a criminal of its planet that’s why it was sent to a distant planet with a laser beam cannon. It wants to build a same cannon to return back to its home, if it can do that and return back with the information about another intelligent being (Human) then it will be treated with great respect. But to change host all it needed to do is to force Tommy to commit suicide. But all on a sudden, Tommy’s and Charest’s parents came in search of Tommy with their dog Baak leading the way. Feeling danger it forced Tommy to kill himself.
Then it took Baak (the dog) as its new host. After hiding its body in a safer place it killed Baak by running towards a car on the road. It was its worst mistake because Dr. Stanton was the driver of that car, who was a scientist, became concern with the dog’s behavior to attempt suicide. Later on, Stanton came to know about the Tommy’s mysterious suicidal case from the sheriff. Dr. Stanton wanted to note his thoughts about all this incidents because he thought that all this incidents are inter-related. But for this he needed someone to type his dictations. So he called his old friend Eddy Hollis who appointed Ms. Amanda Tally for Stanton’s desired job.
On the other hand, The alien became interested in Dr. Stanton because of his curiosity and also because he was a scientist. His brave and forward attitude attracted the alien. For it, Dr. Stanton was the perfect host it needed. To find Dr. Stanton’s house it took a cat host and started searching for Stanton. Fortunately, it found Stanton’s house where he was staying to enjoy his vacation. It entered in to Stanton’s house to find out more about him but through his extraordinary intelligence Stanton caught the cat and started keeping an eye on it. After imprisoning the cat in the home for several days finally Stanton let the cat go out. Unknown to the fact that it was been followed by Stanton, it went to the jungle and forced the cat to jump on the water to free itself. The alien was satisfied that nobody will find the cats body specially Dr. Stanton and will know nothing about it but when Stanton saw the dead body of the cat he understood that something is behind all this.
Now, it needed to take it’s body in Stanton’s house so that when it get chance it can make Stanton it’s host. So he choosed another host a boy James. After fulfilling the task he also force James to do the same suicidal thing but this time it tried to show this as an accident because it knew that Stanton started doubting. Elsewhere, Stanton decided to leave the house and get into a hotel where he will call the sheriff and inform the F.B.I. So he came to the house to take his belongings but the alien understood that Stanton is leaving. To stop him, the alien started attacking with different animal host and eventually destroyed Stanton’s car. Having no safer way Stanton kept inside home but understood that it doesn’t want to kill him. It was impossible for Stanton to use phone for there was no network in that part. After thinking a lot Stanton came to the decision that it wants to make him a host but needs its target to be in sleep to take control as all the human that it made host were on sleep. Stanton started to keep his eye open.
After a whole day, in the next morning Ms. Amanda Tally came to see him. The alien also attacked her with animal host but Stanton saved her by firing the animal and then both of them ran into the house. Now Stanton and Amanda both were stuck in the house. Stanton described everything to Amanda and in course of time Stanton understood that it was impossible for him to stay awake even for a single minute. So he tell Amanda to tie him up with a rope so that Stanton can sleep making sure that if the alien make him host it won’t be able to do anything rather it will be trapped inside Stanton’s body and Amanda will get a chance to call for help.
On the other hand, the alien was unknown to their plans, after killing a flying host when it came back home it saw Stanton was sleeping without thinking a bit it got into Stanton’s body. But it was hard to control his mind. The fight began between their minds. Both of them could read each other’s mind. Before loosing control Stanton was able to tell Amanda where it hides its body. Following Stanton’s directions Amanda went to the back stairs of the house which enters into the basement. Under the stair she saw some hand prints; she dug the soil and found the alien’s body. Reloading the gun she fired it. At that moment she heard Stanton’s shouting and went to see what had happened. When she got into the room Stanton said that she had succeeded to kill the alien. Stanton also felt sorry for the alien. All it wanted to do is to return home. At last the story finishes when Stanton starts describing the information he got from the alien’s mind.
