Disney Pixar reveals teaser of its upcoming short film

If you are planning to go to watch Disney’s magical animated film The Good Dinosaur then better be early for the movie or you will miss the privilege to watch another short animated film just before the movie. Disney Pixar’s 7 minute animated short film Sanjay’s Super Team will be screened before The Good Dinosaur on 25 November, 2015 in US and on 4 December, 2015 in India.

Directed by America based Indian animator Sanjay Patel,  a small 30 second teaser from the short was unveiled yesterday by Disney’s UK YouTube channel. The protagonist in the clip is a little boy Sanjay who is glued to the TV watching his superheroes while his father is immersed in the religious prayer or ‘puja’ as it is called according to the Indian tradition. With the sound of the bell clinging in the background as his father starts praying, the boy increases the volume of the TV to avoid his father’s prayers. But, as ‘Daddy is the Boss’ in every house so his father shuts the TV and calls little Sanjay to sit beside him. Will his father make him sit and pray along with him and give up the craze of Superhero or will Sanjay disregard his father’s traditional way of living and continue watching his superheroes?  What the movie unfolds about Indian tradition and blend of Superhero avatar is still a question!

The mastermind behind the idea of this film, Sanjay Patel, grew up in San Bernando, California as a child playing with American comics, super hero toys while his parents were traditionally and culturally completely Indian. So, this story is personally very close to him as it is HIS real life story. Having worked on Toy Story 3The Incredibles andMonsters, Inc. Sanjay has added his own concept to the creative animation and fine artwork.

Oscar-winning composer Mychael Danna (Life of Pi) provides a mix of traditional sound of the prayer bell, Indian cultural music and super hero tones that reverberate in the background to add a unique feel to the animation. Produced by Nicole Paradis Grindle, the short film is set to gear the excitement in the viewers as the teaser itself will leave you with a question- What will happen next?
