Sprouting is the way of germinating seeds and eating them raw or cooked. These are full of nutrition and good for health. I love eating spouts and find very excited when I pop up pulses in home. These home made sprouts have a prominent place in my healthy diet chart and it should be. There are a number of seeds that can be sprouted but I usually use green gram whole (SABUT MOONG DAL) for sprouting. I use them for salads or sometime supplement it with my other recipes. Let’s have a look how to prepare a healthy salad of green pulse sprouts.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sprouts
  • ½ cup chickpeas
  • ½ cup boiled potato’s
  • ½ chopped onion
  • ½ chopped tomato
  • ½ chopped cucumber
  • Coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2-3 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp hung curd

Preparation:

  • First stemmed the sprouts. When you find these are properly stemmed then let them cool.
  • In hung curd add lemon juice, salt, black pepper and black salt.
  • Roughly mash chickpeas and potato’s( optional )

Method:

  • Take a bowl and add sprouts, chickpeas and potatoes. Mix them well.
  • Then add coriander leaves, chopped onion, tomato, and cucumber and mix well.
  • Finally add dressing. Now it’s ready to eat.

If you don’t know how to make sprouts in home then don’t worry it’s very easy process. First take ½ cup green gram. Wash them well in fresh water. Then dip them into fresh water for 1-2 hour. After some hour they will double in size then drain them properly. Take a piece of cloth put whole pulse in the cloth and tie the cloth properly that it covers the gram. Then hang this at the place where you can timely rinsing it with water. This will take your 1-2 nights. But keep in mind cloth should not get dry. Once you done this process of germinating you can reserve sprout in freezer for a week.

Tips;

  • Only steamed the sprouts don’t boil it in water.
