Environmental Pollution

Posted on at

Environmental pollution means befouling of surroundings by substances called pollutant. It is one of the major problems faced by people.People pollute the air with smoke and exhaust of automobiles, poison the water with industrial effluent and damage the soil with too many pesticides and fertilizers. In this way they are not only polluting their surroundings but also devastating the natural beauty of Earth. If we talk about the health problems, they are directly linked with pollution.Harmful gases such as carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, carbon dioxide are contributing directly to pollution which in turn is a great risk for human health.
Carbon monoxide is causing great damage to human health.Exposure to high levels of carbon monoxide can be proved fatal.Intake of carbon monoxide can contribute to many diseases i.e heart failure, chest pain, comma, blurred vision, dizziness, nausea, seizures etc. Burning fuels are the major source of carbon monoxide.

Sulfur dioxide is a colorless gaseous air pollutant with a pungent odor.Fossil fuel combustion and natural volcanic activity are primary sources of sulfur dioxide. This gas induces many harmful effects on human health i.e inflammation of respiratory system, irritation in skin, coughing, breathing difficulties etc.

People want to reduce pollution but the pollution problem is as complicated as it is terrible. It is complicated because much pollution is caused by things that benefit people. For example poisonous gases released from automobiles cause a lot of air pollution but these automobiles provide transportation for millions of people.Industries and factories release a lot chemical effluents or waste materials and these chemicals pollute the water and land too.

If we talk about fertilizers which are the vital component for plants growth, excessiveness of these fertilizers and pesticides are a great sources of land pollution. So,if we want to reduce pollution to some extent then we should try to use environmental friendly machinery and things which produce less pollution.Vehicles or automobiles should be in good order.Streets and roads should be kept clean.
