This Friday is a special day. Today is the International Women's Day, a day that is the result of struggles and sacrifices of women whom have taken the admirable steps to support each other and fight for their rights.

Looking back on my journey to NY and watching the opening ceremony videos of each school for having an Internet classroom by seeing the real smile on students' faces is the best feeling you can ever have in your life. Thinking about those girls whose families can not afford buying a computer and connect it to the Internet is painful, for them it is a part of their dreams while on the other side of the world, having them is a must part of their lives.

Providing a better eduction in a safe environment specially for girls considering their limitations is a great step towards empowering women in their communities, as education is a powerful weapon for them to know what they want and how they can get it.

Afghan Development Project Initiative has started it's mission to make their dreams into reality. Building Internet classrooms and connecting them to the Internet is exactly what girls want in their schools.

Changing a classroom with the basic equipments of learning to a new one which is facilitated with the recent technologies is just impressive.

I was also introduced with many creative and inspirational women who have great influence in Education, Sports, Politic, Social Media and Filmmaking that lead to empowering women around the world. I was introduced with Lauren Lovelace, Executive Director of the U.S.-Afghan Women’s Council at Georgetown University.

In FilmAnnex we also have launched Women's Annex, which is an interactive platform that promotes and supports women's empowerment with videos, instructional programs, and blog stories about education, arts, business, sports, and a variety of other topics.

I wold like to refer to an Afghan proverb in the Zarbul Msalha book by Edward Zellem which says: "Behesht zer-e paeey- e madarran ast", Heaven is under the feet of mothers, which means: Mothers have a very important role in the world. Yes first of all beside being a mother they have the role of being a woman and they have a very influential role not even in their homes also outside in the society.
