Game of Thrones - Season 4 Episode 9 - Review in short

Posted on at

So this weeks episode of Game of Thrones has been released on Sky Atlantic (for UK viewers), and focuses completely on John Snow, Sam and the rest of the Nights Watch defending the wall against the 'Wildlings' north of the wall. The episode, entitled 'The Watchers On The Wall', takes us into the action of the Nights Watch.

The episode heavily consists of fights, deaths and mass killings. A violent episode for sure, but also a great one. We've been waiting for this for the entirety of season 4, so it's great that the fight has finally begun. The question that hangs through-out this episode until the very end is 'Will Ygritte finally catch up with John Snow?' and 'Will we see what happens to Tyrion?'. I won't run into any spoilers for those of you who have yet to watch episode 9, but I can tell you that you won't expect to see what happens to Tyrion after the demise of Oberyn. This, I imagine will be tied up in the next, and final episode of the season: Episode 10 - The Children.

Overall, it's a great episode, that features a lot of CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) & vfx work, which is great. You finally get to see the Giants and Mammoths in full swing! However, it would have been great to even get a 5 minute shot of Kings Landing, and what we'll expect to happen to Tyrion Lannister, but that remains to be seen.

Overall, 7/10
