We booked 4 nights at the La Boheme about a week before travelling it cost us 260 EUR / 216 GBP wich was slightly more expensive than the average 2 * that we had been looking at but as the reviews were so good we decided it was a saver option and worth the extra money (only about 30GBP more ).
The day after we booked I recieved an email to let us know that they were doing some renovation work in the reception area on the 10th 11th and 12th so we would have to have breakfast across the street for the first 2 mornings , I wasn't really ahppy abotu this but thought it was nice that they let us know in advance , they also reasured me that there would not be any noice disterbance due to the renovations and there was not.
The breakfast at the other hotel was not up to much which was a bit dissapointing , when we went to have breakfast on the third morning in our hotel they asked us what it had been like and were not happy that we wern't happy so they gave us a 20EUR disccount of out bill which was very nice of them and not at all expected we hadn't even complained really.

The room was clean and supprisingly spacious considering what we were expecting from amsterdam hotels. Our bathroom was much bigger than expected as well and the Shower was nice and hot and powerfull .

We were on the 4th floor up a lot of steep stairs but that is expected in Amsterdam .

Overall the Hotel was perfect for waht we wanted , The rooms were clean and comfortable the bed was really comfy and the location was great right were all the pubs and resteraunts were but not noisy and a 5 min tram ride from dam square 15 mins to the zoo and 5 mins to the museums
