I was so blissful about the ratings of my previous blog and I am hoping I could get the same now although I know there is no assurance (sometimes I get the least expected ratings in a particular blog).  What I should consider or think is to do the best I can in so far as formatting and tags are concern (this has become the common error or the area that needs improvement).

Anyhow my Big thanks to Ms. Hillary and bitLanders in general for the 5 star ratings.  It allows me to submit 2 more blogs without buying gems yet although I know whether I like it or not I really have to buy some very soon. And in case you haven’t read my recent blog yet you may visit the link below and leave some love, LOL.

So this is my 10th blog so far (after 2 long years, LOL) and I would like to talk about this self-balancing scooter also called Hover board and few things we should know about it.  This blog may not be that interesting to all but I'm sure my kids would love the photos I chose, after all as mentioned in my title this blog is specially dedicated to my little boys.

It has been my ultimate dream to be able to give my little boy this gift since I know he really like to have one.  Since last year he used to ask me to buy a hover board but I was so hesitant.  Aside from the fact that it was really very expensive last year I was also thinking about the safety of my kid in using it especially when I am not there to look after him.  I had so much fears although deep within in me, I really wanted to give him such wonderful gift for I know how happy he would be to have one. So that’s the story behind why I wanted to write about this amazing two-wheeled scooter.

What is a hover board?

According to Wikipedia, “A hoverboard (or hover board) is a fictional levitating board used for personal transportation, first described by author M. K. Joseph in 1967 and popularized by the Back to the Future film Part II and III.”  It is also called self-levitating board or two wheeled scooter or self-balancing scooter.  Since then hover board appears in a number of films like  the 1986 American animated science fiction action adventure movie, The Transformers, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer in 2007 and many more although not yet being sold in the market.

Hoverboard or the concept of a self-levitating board or machine was invented long time ago but was made so very popular in the last 2 years.  That as far as I remember, LOL.  I was not so interested with it since when it was introduced to the buying public with a very high price, made it unaffordable to most people although of course for rich people it is something very easy to obtain.

Safe or not?

As mentioned above aside from being expensive I was also concern about the safety of my kids in case they would be lucky to have one.  It is actually the major reason why I did not buy one for them in the last 2 years.

I remember few months after it was launched a lot of news came out about the danger of using it.  Negative write-ups in several blog sites and videos over YouTube were scattered. I am not sure about the true intention of the writers or authors because it can be a black propaganda by business competitors but still it is very important to note that such things could happen or shall I say those accidents or incidents being shown on YouTube and other social media may happen if owners will not exercise due care and safety measures.

Battery Explosion

This is actually scary considering that a person who is using it may incur minor burns to up to death if not lucky enough.  According to the reports, hoverboard may explode when it is overly charged which may cause fire or untoward accident if it burst into flame while in use.  And not only that, it is believed that the sudden explosion is caused by cheaper model of batteries that which were made in China and was brought to the US and UK using different brand.

In December 2015 and in the US alone, there were about 70 reported hospital trips due to the controversial self-balancing machine related incidents mainly caused by falls and collisions, plus about 22 reports of hoverboards bursting into flame.  The number was really alarming during that time with the immediate posting of the actual incidents over social media which prompt several airlines to ban hoverboards in their flights while in UK hoverboards were also banned in public parks.

My personal views about those incidents

Maybe a lot of people are wondering why even if the sale of hoverboards was reportedly banned in many countries yet they are still very popular and still remain as the must have Christmas gift?  I think those incidents of fall and collisions are just the result of using it for the first time.  I mean it’s normal to encounter problems when you are still starting to learn to use something. Since it is a kind of machine that could run like a car or a motor bike, a comprehensive training must be required, I mean before using it one should learn the basics and must apply due care every time he or she is on board especially when at the public area or at the busy streets.

Perhaps buyers/users of self-balancing scooters have learned their lessons such that they are more careful now and maybe it’s the reason why this time there is less incidents if not none anymore relating to hoverboard.  And besides nitizens are not that active now in reporting incidents related to the use of this popular electric scooters.

My decision?

I will buy one for my kids, I am sure it’s not only them who will enjoy the ride but also yours truly, LOL.

Why buy?

Hoverbords now are a lot cheaper compared before.  Imagine from the original price of 19,000 Philippine peso it is now being sold at 2,499 pesos.  With more than 80% discounts I would love to have one for my kids this Christmas.  Even if using it may be a bit risky or dangerous but I just hope and pray we will be fine with it.  And the good thing is I am not using my hard earned money (salary) to buy one but the earnings I got from bitLanders.
