What To Do In Paris In August


 


 


August is vacation month in France, and although most Parisians are off visiting other beautiful places, some of us are still here. Whether Paris is your destination location, or you just decided to suck around for the month, try and profit from all the vacant seats in the metro and empty lines. Here are some great things to do for the month of August. have fun!


 


 


Event: "Rando-Roller" Tours of Paris


Details: Although it's been a pretty rainy summer, the sun has decided to stick around for the past week. So try and take it in as much as possible before it leaves! Slip on your skates or rollerblades and take a roller tour of Paris with "Rando-Roller." Every week they change up their route to discover different parts of the city. Don't worry, they do take breaks throughout to enjoy the surroundings!


 


When: Families and beginner riders start at 2:30pm every Sunday. Advanced and seasoned rider tours begin at 9:30pm every Friday.

Event: Kayak and Canoeing Lessons


 


Details: If you're an outdoors person and love the water then the boat club of La Villette has 45 minute rowing and canoeing lessons right on the canal! Enjoy the sun and take in the sites while learning from professional instructors.


 


When: Lessons are held on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 12pm and then again from 2pm to 5 pm.

Event: Paris Plages


 


Details: Everyone wants to hit the beach as soon as the summer starts to heat up. But, as many of you know, its taken a while for that to happen here. Fret no more though! The sun has finally decided to shine and running up and down the River Seine, from the Louvre to Pont du Sully, sand, beach chairs, umbrellas, ice cream venders, music and open-air bars can all be found. The banks have been transformed into a lovely little beach! No need for expensive airfare or long sweaty road trips, this beach is just minutes away. What are you waiting for? Go stick your toes in the sand!


 


When: Starting around June 20th for four weeks.

Event: Open-Air Cinema Festival


 


Details: We mentioned it last month, but as you may know, we're kind of movie obsessed! Plus, there's still 26 more days left! Pack a picnic, bring a blanket or two and relax on these warm summer nights watching movies — outside! This open-air film festival is also a chance to visit the city’s gorgeous green parks and watch some amazing free films, yes we said FREE. From indie to major blockbuster hits, films are shown in their original language and shown on giant screens!

Event: Shakespeare's Garden Theater Festival


 


Details: Take in some culture this month and enjoy some outdoor theater at the Jardin Shakespeare in the beautiful and lush Boulogne Woods, another great location for fresh air and maybe even a romantic picnic. Every year, the theatre holds a slew of plays, dances, and amazing musical performances. Tickets can be bought at the theatre, but only by cash or check.

Event: Cinéma au clair de lune


 


Details: Heading into its 12th edition, this outdoor film festival screens classics films outdoors throughout Paris in areas like the quaint Place des Vosges, the iconic Trocadero area, or the beautiful Parc Monsouris. Better yet, its FREE!
