Judging People on what they have and what they wear.

The label of a tin milk is not as important as the milk in the tin. So many people label others as if the "true milk" in them is equal to the label. We must not equate the outward man to the inner man."--Ernest Agyemang Yeboah

Do you dress to impress?

Do you believe in the line that goes, "first impression lasts"?

He entered the store, wearing just a plain shirt, a basic shorts and ordinary slippers. No one bothered to get near him. He approached one sales agent and asked how much the motorbike he puts his eyes on costs? The agent offered him paying it on installment and didn't tell him how much will it be if it is being bought on cash. He said he is buying the motorbike on cash.

This is my brother's experience when he was buying his motorbike. One of the painful reality what our society has been doing, or maybe some if you are buying something in a store and the salesman/woman seems to be oblivious to your presence when you are wearing something that looked like you can not afford to buy one of their items in that store.

And most of the time, I am still doing this "experiment" to prove that maybe to some stores, agents are not the same, and yes, I have seen few agents that don't see what I have based on what I wear.

This situation is not just happening in stores, in restaurants too, it is happening I have seen some every time I eat solo. Some being not entertained almost being shoved away.

Dressed and Get that Impression.

To wear something that goes to someone else's standard, can lead to forgetting who you are. Sometimes, it can make you uncomfortable. But of course with an exceptions, with work, you have to follow a certain standard and also with meeting clients.

On Facebook, I always get into this news about women who are being catcalled, sexually harassed and sometimes being raped. Out of curiosity, I often read comments and most of the time, I read few "people" making comments that this women are being raped, catcalled, sexually harassed  because of what they wear. How did that happen?

How do you see a lady or a girl, or a woman wearing shorts? Too short on your own "standard"?

For me, I find it more of a woman with self confidence for I don't have the same confidence as she is. But to the eyes of some, it is not. An acquaintance once made a comment when he see a woman wearing something that is what he said "revealing", and words that I just could't take, and I am glad that this person is just an acquaintance. What people are wearing is not a "passes" or "permit" for others to judge them or worst, harm them.

I don't dress or wear clothes that make me look like a girl. Just plain shirt and jeans works great for me. Then one time, someone asked me if I am a gay based on what I always wear, I said nope. There is nothing wrong with being gay, I have a lot of male and female gay friends, but the way people are judging them is not okay, and will never be okay.

We can wear what we wanted to wear, as long as we are comfortable with it, but what makes it uncomfortable is what people are saying to us based on what we wear. We shouldn't mind them right? We have our own business to mind and we are not breaking the laws, we should be fine.

The clothes a person wear does not reflect who they are.

But why people judge the others by their appearance?

Mindset. It has been set on their mind. People have judge the others on the basis of their looks, appearances and who they are because of society's stereotype and most of the time, media.

They have set a certain standard. Wearing a signature brand clothes means, this person is rich for this person can afford to buy this certain brand. When  a man wearing a tattered clothes, one person can think that this man is poor, for he can not afford to buy a new clothes.

I watched this news about a store that made a report about what they saw on the store's CCTV, a good looking man, with good looking clothes stole one expensive watch. The crew on the store admits that he didn't look or check the man for he look like someone wh is not going to steal anything from their store.

How do you see a person with tattoos?

Some sees it as that the person had been bad, on my part, I think of..how did they take those pain from the needles that have pierced the skin? So, I think they more of the courageous ones since I am quite scared with needles touching my skin. But for those who have it, they think of art, or something that will remind them of their loved ones.

Yes, tattoos can be an art, someone else's culture too.

This has been "tattooed" on some minds, ex convicts and tattoos go together, especially to some Filipinos maybe because that those who went to jail has been tattoed, and if someone has a lot, some tagged them as "ex convicts". Some action Filipino movies have left some a not so good impression with people who has tattoos.

You can not really judge a book by its cover.
