Maruyang Tugnos

I don't know what this dish is called in your native dialect but in Bohol, specifically in our town, we call it as Maruyang Tugnos. Tugnos is a kind of fish which is seasonal and are really tiny, they are transparent ones too! They go in a school type so when a fisherman goes to catch them, he uses a pale or any container to scoop them from the seawaters.

They are too tiny that looking for them is hard but scooping them is easy. Aside from frying it like this, most of the locals in our town would eat it raw with just vinegar and a few spices, we call it "Kinilaw".

But I love it cooked as this.

The photo above was taken in Oslob, when these little ones were on season last February. My husband's father caught it early morning.
