National Oatmeal Day

Posted on at

Today, October 29th, is National Oatmeal Day.

Oatmeal can be either ground oat groats or a porridge made from oats. Eating a bowl daily can help lower cholesterol.

Oatmeal need not only be eaten as a breakfast cereal, such as porridge or muesli, it can also be used as an ingredient in baked goods. In particular, there are a range of traditionally Scottish foods that use oats, such as bannocks and oatcakes. They can also be used to make biscuits or cookies.
