Pakistan entered into television Broadcasting age in 26 November 1964 with a small pilot TV Station established at Lahore. The first transmission telecast in Black and white. After that their branches spread in the country , Karachi and Rawalpindi centres established in 1967 and Quetta in 1974.

The end of PTV's monopoly in 2000. which gained greater political influence in country's political spectrum. As of today, the PTV competes with the private television channels and remains a important asset of Government of Pakistan.

Now Drama serials on PTV channel is very popular

The PTV is one of the well-expanded broadcasting network infrastructure and media broadcasting divisions in cities of Pakistan and abroad. For the most of the 20th century, the PTV enjoyed a dominant position in media outlets until the start of the 21st century and was one of the two major television networks in the country.
