Pakistan role in Afghan Peace Process

US lauds role of new Pakistani government in facilitating Afghan process process. Pakistan role is seen critical in Afghan process and success of peace process is dependent on Pakistan.New government is anxious to work on with Afghanistan government and help them bring Taliban on dialogue table.

Recently Pakistan released senior Afghan Taliban leaders including senior top Afghan Taliban detainee Abdul Ghani Baradar who has been seen as main person facilitating peace negotiations between Afghanistan government and Taliban.Afghanistan High peace council welcomed the release of senior Afghan Taliban and thanked Pakistan government.

Over the last six months, Pakistan government has been active in supporting Afghan peace process and urging Afghan Taliban to take part in peace process. New prime minister of Pakistan in his meeting with Afghan president has showed his support in bringing Taliban to peace table and helping war torn country to overcome long three decades of war.

Islamabad close ties with Afghan Taliban in past is making Pakistan role more important and vital in this peace process. US government is working closely with government of Pakistan to help Afghanistan carry forward peace process.People of Afghanistan are looking forward to helping hand of Pakistan in this crucial peace process.

Afghan president Hamid Karzai has praised Pakistan role and has urged to support his government in talking to Taliban.He said Pakistan government could provide opportunities for talks between Afghan peace council and Taliban.On other hand, Pakistan PM Nawaz Shareef has extended his country willingness to support peace process and bring peace and stability in Afghanistan.
